Addresses & Contacts

How your addresses come from your linked gaming accounts, and how to keep track of the people you write to

Understanding Addresses

Your addresses are the heart of GG.email. Each one represents one of your gaming identities, and they all deliver to your one inbox.

Why Use Them?

  • Your gamertag, as an address - People who know your name on a platform can reach you
  • Organization - See which identity each email was sent to
  • Privacy - Your personal email stays separate and private
  • Flexibility - Send from whichever identity fits, without switching accounts

Address Format

Addresses follow this pattern:

[name].[platform]@gg.email

World of Warcraft characters also carry their realm and region:

[character].[realm].[region].wow@gg.email

Examples:

  • gamername.steam@gg.email - Steam identity
  • gamer.discord@gg.email - Discord identity
  • streamer.twitch@gg.email - Twitch channel, also reachable as streamer.ttv@gg.email
  • hero#1234.battlenet@gg.email - Battle.net BattleTag
  • arthas.area52.us.wow@gg.email - A World of Warcraft character

Every address also works at @goodgame.email, and that mail arrives in the same inbox.

Where Your Addresses Come From

You don't create addresses by hand, and you can't pick an arbitrary name. Each address comes from a gaming account you have linked and verified, so nobody can take your gamertag on a platform they don't use.

Getting a New Address

  1. Sign in to inbox.gg.email
  2. Open your profile settings and go to Platforms
  3. Choose to link a platform, and pick the one you want
  4. Approve the request on that platform
  5. Check the addresses GG.email found, and confirm
No limits: there is no cap on how many addresses you can have, on any plan. Link as many accounts as you like.

Managing Addresses

Viewing Your Addresses

All your addresses are listed under Platforms in your profile settings. For each one you can see:

  • The full email address, which you can click to copy
  • Which platform it comes from
  • How permanent it is: Permanent, Username, Username (may change) or Character
  • When it was linked

Choosing Your Default Address

Under Default reply address in your General settings, choose the address that Compose starts with. You can still pick any of your addresses for each email.

Platform-Specific Addresses

Each platform gives addresses in its own way:

Steam

  • name.steam@gg.email - From your Steam custom URL (steamcommunity.com/id/name)
  • 76561198000000000.steam@gg.email - From your SteamID64, which never changes

Your Steam display name never becomes an address, because anyone can set any display name. If you haven't set a custom URL on Steam, you get the SteamID64 address only. To get a readable address, set a custom URL in Steam (Edit Profile → General → Custom URL), then link Steam again.

Battle.net and World of Warcraft

  • hero#1234.battlenet@gg.email - Your BattleTag
  • arthas.area52.us.wow@gg.email - One for each of your characters: name, realm and region

A character whose name has accented or other non-English letters doesn't get an address, because outside senders couldn't deliver to it.

Twitch

  • channelname.twitch@gg.email
  • channelname.ttv@gg.email - The same address. Mail to either arrives in your inbox, and you can send from either

Discord, Bungie.net, Epic Games and Lichess

These follow the usual pattern with your name on that platform:

  • username.discord@gg.email
  • username.bungie@gg.email
  • username.epic@gg.email
  • username.lichess@gg.email

Your Own Name (Pro)

A Pro subscriber can also claim one address with no platform in it, such as gamername@gg.email. Claim it under Platforms in your profile settings.

  • It must match the name of one of your linked accounts that is unique on its platform. Display names and character names don't qualify.
  • It uses letters a-z, numbers, - and _, is 3 to 30 characters long, and has no dots.
  • It is yours alone. The first Pro subscriber to claim a name gets it.
  • You can have one at a time, and you can swap it for another. A name you give up is held for 30 days before anyone else can claim it.
  • You keep it if you later rename or unlink the account it came from.
  • If your Pro subscription ends, you keep it for the 14-day grace period. After that it is released.

Shared Addresses

Some platform names aren't unique. Two players can share a display name, for example. When that happens, more than one GG.email account can hold the same address, and mail to it is delivered to each of them.

The Permanent and Username labels under Platforms mark addresses that only you can hold. For mail you don't want anyone else to see, give out one of those.

Managing Contacts

Keep a list of the GG.email players you write to under Contacts in your profile settings.

Adding Contacts

  1. Open your profile settings and go to Contacts
  2. Enter their GG.email address
  3. Add the contact

Organizing Contacts

  • Favorite - Keep the people you write to most at the top of the list
  • Block - Mail from a blocked contact is no longer delivered to you
  • Delete - Remove contacts you no longer need

Address Best Practices

Share the Right Address

  • Give out the address for the platform where people know you, such as your Twitch address to viewers
  • For important mail, prefer an address marked Permanent or Username, which nobody else can hold
  • Spell it out exactly, including the platform part, for example .steam

Organize by Purpose

Because each platform has its own address, you can use them for different parts of your gaming life:

  • Your WoW character address for your guild
  • Your Twitch address for stream business
  • Your Discord address for your community
  • Your Steam address for friends and teams

Troubleshooting

An Address Is Missing

If an address you expected isn't in your list:

  • Check that you linked the right account on that platform
  • For Steam, check that you've set a custom URL, then link Steam again. Your display name never gives an address
  • For World of Warcraft, check whether the character's name has non-English letters

An Address Isn't Receiving Emails

  1. Check that the sender used the address exactly as it appears under Platforms
  2. Check that you haven't run out of storage
  3. On Free, check that the sender is someone Free accounts can receive from (see Receiving Emails)
  4. Check service status
